MASTER OF ENGINEERING

The Master of Engineering (MEng) Program is a general practice-oriented graduate degree designed to enhance the capabilities of faculty members in Engineering and practicing engineers, by strengthening their comprehension of engineering principles and updating them on the recent advances and practices in engineering and technology.

The MEng Program is a two (2) year non-thesis graduate program. Candidates for the degree of Master of Engineering shall be required to undergo practicum in industry or relevant exposure in an equivalent agency. This shall enable the graduates of the program to be acquainted with the current practices in industry and research.

The Program which was approved as per Board of Regents (BOR) Resolution Number 27, s. 2004 in July 5, 2004 is being offered by the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) under the supervision of the Office of the Graduate School (OGS).


GENERAL OBJECTIVE

The program aims to produce graduates who can provide leadership in the practice of engineering as a profession and as a tool in the improvement of agro-industrial productivity.


SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
  1. To contribute in upgrading engineering education in the country, particularly in State Colleges and Universities.
  2. To provide the students with relevant understanding on new approaches in engineering that are relevant in business environment both locally and globally, and
  3. To develop high-level engineering professionals and experts needed by various industries, State Colleges and Universities, government and non-government institutions.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission into the program is in accordance with the policies and guidelines for the graduate programs per BOR Res. No. 41, s. 2000. An applicant for the Master of Engineering must submit the following to the Graduate School.

  1. Duly-accomplished application form for admission and three (3) copies of passport-size pictures;
  2. Original or authenticated official Transcript of Records (TOR) bearing the official seal(s) of the school(s) attended;
  3. Two (2) sealed letters of recommendation from former professors and/or immediate supervisor which may be personally delivered and/or mailed to the Graduate School; 
  4. Non-refundable application fee of P150.00 for Filipino citizens or US$50.00 for foreign nationals (figures may be changed without prior notice);
  5. Approved permit to study (for DepEd public school teachers and other government employees and officials);
  6. Photocopy of student's visa and passport (for foreign nationals only); and
  7. Certificate of English Proficiency from the Department of Languages and Mass Communication (DLMC), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). In addition, a student coming from countries where English is not a medium of instruction shall have a passing score of 500 in the Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL).

The applicant shall submit the above requirements (1,2, and 4-6) personally to the Graduate School for him/her to take the written examination needed to satisfy the requirements in item 7.

An applicant must be a holder of a bachelor's degree in engineering from a reputable educational institution and with a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5. An applicant with previous field of specialization different from this graduate program shall be required by the Screening Committee to take the preparatory courses.
